Clare Howarth is Head of North of England for Diabetes UK taking up post in 2018, prior to this Clare spent 20 years working across different areas of the NHS and local government in roles focused around health improvement and engagement. In 2008 Clare was awarded the municipal journal award for her efforts in reducing health inequalities in young people with the development of THINK Teenage Health in Knowsley Programme. Clare continued to work across Youth Services and School Health with a keen interest in sexual health and substance misuse. Clare worked at St Helens and Knowsley trust before joining Diabetes UK as Patient Experience Manager, the Trust was awarded best patient experience in 2016. Clare has been chair of St Helens and Knowsley diabetes patient focus group for the last 12 years, and also chairs a group for parents with children living with disabilities across Merseyside. Clare has studied at the University of West Sussex, Cumbria university, Salford and Liverpool University.
