NHS England has named award-winning hospital chief executive Samantha Jones to head the development and implementation of new models of care.

Jones was most recently chief executive at West Hertfordshire Hospitals Trust during which time she spearheaded the Operation Onion forum for staff, patetns and the public to peel back the layers” of processes and improve patient safety and experience.
Jones now assumes the role of director of new models of care for NHS England, where she will lead the implementation of changes to health and care services outlined in the NHS Five Year Forward View, a vision for the future of the NHS published in October last year.
“The Forward View is of fundamental importance to the NHS in England and there is much work to do to take it forward,” said Jones. “The NHS is facing many challenges and we need to act quickly to address them.”
Jones’ former role at West Hertfordshire Hospitals Trust will be taken over by Jacqueline Kelly on an interim basis.
