Vicki qualified as a nurse 2002 after completing her BSc (Hons) Nursing degree at Birmingham City University. She became a Diabetes Specialist Nurse in 2005 and since then has worked across both primary and secondary care. Her experience includes, diabetes research, inpatient diabetes, antenatal diabetes and integrated community diabetes care. She has worked in different localities across the UK including Birmingham, Liverpool and currently Leicester.
After relocating from the North West in 2021, Vicki’s current role is within the EDEN team at Leicester Diabetes Centre where she delivers diabetes education and mentoring to primary care health care professionals both locally and nationally. She is also involved in some exciting diabetes innovation and transformation projects.
Vicki is also a member of the DSN Forum UK management team in addition to being part of the multidisciplinary Diabetes 101 twitter team that was set up in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Vicki won the QiC diabetes professional of the year in 2020 after nomination from her colleagues and in 2021 as part of team Diabetes 101 won two QiC awards.
Vicki is a published author and has presented at diabetes conferences including DPC and DUK over the years. Vicki is in her final year of her MSc in Diabetes Practice at Swansea University. She has a passion for diabetes care and couldn’t imagine doing anything else.
