Nay Parnell
Reason for Nomination
Through a BBC news report, Nay courageously shared the impact that her diagnosis had on her mental health and helps to educate professionals about type 1 disordered eating (T1DE). This year Nay had 19inches of her hair cut to raise money for BEAT eating disorder charity, raising nearly £3000! The money raised will provide bespoke training to Beat’s helpline staff about T1DE, develop T1DE resources for carers and train Beat’s team of support volunteers. Nay co-delivers a peer support group for those diagnosed with T1DE and shares how to reframe negative thoughts and practice self-compassion when faced with challenging diabetes days, helping others to feel less alone. Nay is extremely kind and inspirational!
